Letter of St Paul to the Philippians
Beloved and longed for friends, you are indeed my joy and crown of victory. Perceive your whole humanity in the presence of Christ; take joy in his nearness on all paths. Yet again will I say this : be joyful !
Let all people who meet you feel goodness from the heart. The Lord is near ; do not let anxiety win power over you in any part ; rather in all matters carry your request in prayer and in petition, and at the same time with uninterrupted thanks before the divine spiritual world. The peace of God, which is higher than all understanding, will keep your hearts and all your thoughts pure and guarded in Christ Jesus.
Of what concerns the rest, however : of the question how the being of Truth may be rightly felt ; how to respect what is holy ; what divine righteousness is ; what chastity is; how to interact with others in a gracious way ; in what way it is effective to speak among people ; what may be called a virtue ; what can serve as true praise of a person ; make all this the content of your conversations and your thoughts.
And what you may have learned and received from me, what you have heard and seen of me; that also you should fulfill ; thus the spirit of peace will be in your midst.
